Michigan City

Michigan City is a city in LaPorte County, Indiana, United States. It is one of the two principal cities of the Michigan City-La Porte, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Chicago-Naperville-Michigan City Combined Statistical Area.

Located in the region known to locals as Michiana, it is approximately 50 miles east of Chicago and 40 miles west of South Bend. The city had a population of 31,479 at the 2010 census.

Glen Arbor Township, Michigan

Civil township of Leelanau County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 788 at the 2000 census.

Glen Arbor is one of those small towns that makes it on almost everyones list of most beautiful places in Michigan. The town sits on the shores of Lake Michigan, just north of the beautiful Glen Lake and is a vacationer and boaters paradise. The western end of the lake takes you right up to one of Michigan's most famous natural wonders, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which features more than 70,000 acres of giant sand dunes and pristine beaches.

Back to Michigan City

After our stay in Glen Arbor we rented a separate car to get back to Michigan City, were we wanted to stay for another two nights at the Microtel Inn before moving on to Chicago.

We were supposed to get a mid sized Jeep SUV, but the guy at the rental firm checked the available cars and realized the only Jeep left had its gas pedal on the left side.

So we got this Nissan thing here instead ¯_(?)_/¯

It's kinda nice to drive though, easy to handle, lots of space.

We had to stop by in Muskegon to avoid getting into a tornado that was moving northeast to Grand Rapids via Wyoming. I'm glad we heard that in the radio while we were still 60 km away ;-)
